Den AST: malting adventure course, local history & heritage museum

After 2 years work, the restoration of the malt house of Roye has been completed. You can visit the malting perception trail and the local history museum. Put your senses to the test and let your inner detective loose in den AST.

A visit to den AST includes:

  • A malting experience course
    Discover the malt house of Roye and his malting process during an interactive experience course in an authentic atmosphere where history comes to live. An impressive kiln floor, a beautifully restored heat chamber and a robust furnace are just some of the relics to admire in this course. Discover the work hazards, become a quality controller of the malt and learn the stories behind the thick walls of this malt house.
  • Local history museum
    Already 750 years provoked the miraculous statue of The Holy Virgin hordes of pilgrims to the city. The diva has seen eight centuries of European history and was a key witness in her own city. Our Lady is our guide in the local museum that tells us more about the history of Halle. Find out in the first part of the exhibition 'Halle , Holy and Devils' in the AST. The second part opens in the autumn of 2015 and shows that Halle is not only a Maria City, but also a city with a rich carnival- , beer and music tradition.

Opening Hours
Every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 9 am until 12 am and from 2 pm until 5 pm. 
Closed on Tuesday and Saturday.
Also open on holidays in the period of April until November. 

- Individual: Standard price: € 3 per person. Compass: € 1 per peron. Acquaintance action: residents of Halle pay until the end of August 2015 only € 1
- Group: Reservation via the tourism office ( of 02 356 42 59 ) Group price: € 2 per person + € 55 for the guide. Max. 15 people per group A visitor with guide last 1h30m and needs to be reserved 3 weeks in advance.
Combine your visit with a tour in the St. Martin basilica or with a city tour.
